Vortex Razor HD
I’d have to say, the Razor is one of the best spotting scopes out right now. One thing that you should know is the Eye Relief goes from 0.67 to 0.66 inches. The scoping scope also has a built-in anti-glare shade.
If you’re going to use the magnification settings you’re going to have refocus the lens. It’s a must. The extra-low dispersion glass offers an amazing resolution, in my opinion, and others. The scoping scope may be pricey but it’s worth it. The lens has XR Plus anti-reflective coatings applied to them. This gives the lens the ability for maximum brightness for low-lighting glassing.
Plus, you can twist the scope up and down. This is to observe the full field of view if you wear eyewear (eyeglasses, sunglasses and etc). For a fuller view, you can extend the eyecup. And yes, this is for users that don’t require glasses.
This is why I believe the Vortex Razor HD is one of the best spotting scopes for hunting. If you want to learn more, go down tot he Vortex Razor HD section to see the pros and cons.
VisionKing Spotting Scope
The VisionKing was made for harsh conditions. If you’re a rugged hunter or like to get dirty, this is your scope. The spotting scope has RainGuard HD water-repellent coating and it’s 100% water-proof.
If you’re worried about the lens fogging up, no need to worry. The VisionKing is 100% fog-proof. I feel VisionKing was focusing on an affordable spotting scope for your average rugged hunter. If you’re tight on a budget, this spotting scope may be what you’re looking for.
SVBONY SV17 Spotting Scope
SV17 Straight Scope is great for targeting horizontal targets. If you’re on higher ground and targeting a downward target, it’s great too. In my opinion, straight body scopes, hands down, are the best for viewing from higher positions. It’s great if you’re a hunter but if you like sightseeing as well, it’s great. I’ve taken this spotting scope up with me during a few hikes.
It’s completely lightweight and extremely portable. If you like to travel lightly, this scoping scope may be a great option for you. Personally, weight is not much of an issue for me. But, as I said, if you like to travel light, this scope would be a great option.
One of the most important aspects of this scope is the fog proof protection. Plus, like the other spotting scopes, it’s waterproof as well. You’ll be happy to know, this spotting scope will hold up under any bad weather condition.
FEEMIC Spotting Scope
The spotting scope is great for short and long-range. This is my 4th choice for a hunting scope. I’d say this scope, in general, is for a beginner or a hobbyist at most. This spotting scope is good for target shooting, bird watching, and hunting. You can also use it for hiking, and other outdoor activities.
I’m happy Feemic included the high-quality Porro BAK4 prism on this spotting scope. It adds a nice bright HD view from your scope. And, as I mentioned before, not only is it great for hunting but sight-seeing as well. Furthermore, you can magnify from 20-60x for far targets.
The FEEMIC Spotting Scope also has an Eyeglass extender for people who wear glasses. Even though I don’t wear glasses, it’s a great addition to have. Also, you’ll capture targets faster due to the novel dual focus wheel design.
It may have a traditional design, but make no mistake the Vortex Razor HD Spotting Scope does everything it can to improve upon tradition. Easy to adjust on the fly and as durable as they come, this spotting scope is nothing if not reliable. Like I mentioned before, eye relief goes from 0.67 to 0.66 inches and has a built-in anti-glare shade.
- Dimensions: 14 x 7.5 x 5.2 inches
- Weight: 6.55 pounds
- Easy-to-use two-speed focus
- An objective lens cover, view-through carrying case, and eyepiece cap are all included
The spotting scope has superb clarity. Thanks to the special anti-glare glass within the scope. I’d say expect nothing less than high definition images. The color fidelity and resolution are top-notch.
Great view. It’s named after its inventor, the Porro prism optimizes the performance and quality of the viewed image. Its use is well documented in all types of viewing lenses.
The XRPlus fully multi-coated lens ensures maximum brightness. Good for if you’re hunting early in the morning.
A specially-crafted lens combines with the glass mentioned earlier to produce sharp colors. This should help you pick out specific animals and objects more clearly.
The Armortek exterior glass protects from scratches, oil, and dirt which is a plus for hunting.
There aren’t any clear drawbacks to this scope, although some customers have reported that the optics clarity isn’t all that it’s cocked up to be at long distances. Others – archers especially – have said it’s a bit too heavy for their liking.
With its two-speed focus and a slew of features emphasizing all aspects of visibility, the Vortex Razor HD Spotting Scope is an extremely solid choice. There’s a lot going for it, and not much against it.
When it comes to choosing the best size spotting scope for hunting, you can’t go wrong with the Visionking Spotting Scope. Whether you use the tripod it comes with or not, it gets the job done, and gets it done well. I really should have included in my list for the best spotting scopes for under $500.
- Weight: 6.06 pounds
- Waterproof and fog proof; usable in all weather conditions
- Two-speed dual focus
- Has a close focus distance of 32.80 feet
It has a retractable sunshade. This means you won’t have to worry about sunlight messing up your shot. You’ll have crystal clear vision at all times.
Between the fully multi-coated optics and BAK-4 prisms, the Visionking won’t leave you hanging on clarity quality.
Completely water and fog proof.
With a magnification of 30x-90x, eye relief is crucial when aligning your shot. Luckily, the eye relief on this scope is up to snuff at 19.1-18mm. The large eye lens helps, too.
You can always use it with an iPhone and get an even wider range. You’d just need to buy the adaptor though.
Another scope with no immediate disadvantages, the cons again come down to specific complaints from the patronage. The two main problems discussed were the magnification and the clarity, both of which have been claimed to be less than advertised on occasion.
Weather-proof and well-rounded, the Visionking Spotting Scope’s usefulness is difficult to deny. It’s as good a spotting scope as any but not my top pick.
Useful even in non-hunting scenarios, such as architectural surveying and construction management, the SVBONY SV17 Straight Spotting Scope is quite versatile. If you are a hunter, though, you’re in luck with this one.
- Dimensions: 18.1 x 4.7 x 10.1 inches
- Weight: 5.22 pounds
- Waterproof and fog proof; water droplets have no chance of getting in
- Viewing angle adjustable by 90 degrees
At 70mm, the objective lens boasts a great field of view (64-43 feet/1000 yards, to be exact) and excellent resolution. It traps light well, too, meaning it can be used in darker scenarios.
The eye relief on this scope clocks in at 14-16mm. That’s just the right length where you won’t tire yourself out while looking down the reticle for long periods.
The straight scope is, of course, fine for horizontal viewing, but it’s also great for looking down on a target. Perfect for hunting from a tree stand.
The eyepiece diameter is 15mm with a large 70mm diameter objective lens. This is great for low-light conditions at nighttime.
All in all, this scoping scope makes it really easy to zoom in on the target. I love the fact this spotting scope has a powerful 25-75x zoom.
Once again, no glaring issues with this scope. Strangely enough, aside from the standard grievances of not being able to focus as well as advertised, it’s been said that the instruction manual is unnecessarily confusing. So be wary if you’re having trouble setting up.
Hunter or not, the SVBONY SV17 Straight Spotting Scope certainly has its uses. It’s a substantial tool in a number of conditions, adaptable and adept at what it does.
Given too many choices, figuring out how to choose a spotting scope for hunting becomes more trouble than it’s worth. That’s why we’ll end here – on a strong note – with the FEEMIC 20-60×60 Upgrade HD Spotting Scope.
- Dimensions: 16.9 x 6.2 x 5.5 inches
- Weight: 4.71 pounds
- Lifetime warranty and money-back guarantee
- Eyeglass extender is a boon for those who wear glasses
The rubber on this scope serves two purposes: (1) it absorbs a good deal of shock, keeping your aim stable as can be, and (2) it’s non-slip, so rain is not a worry. (And speaking of rain, yes, it’s waterproof and fog proof.)
The fully multi-coated GREEN FILM objective lens, in combination with the BAK-4 prism, both eliminate the haze and improves image lighting.
This doesn’t necessarily have to do with the scope itself, but FEEMIC’s customer service is exceptional. They answer questions quickly and are ultra polite.
The eyepiece on this scope is bigger than most at 24mm (compared to the average 20mm). This inherently improves the quality of magnification that you’ll experience.
The Feemic has a great sunshade that protects the lens from sun glare. Not only does it protect your eyes but it prevents damage to the lens.
The device is environmentally and skin-friendly. It’s crafted with a non-slip rubber that is extremely durable. And like the rest of the recommendations here, it’s water and fog proof.
For the final time, we proclaim: this scope doesn’t come with many problems off the bat. The major problem – which doesn’t apply to hunters, who mount their scopes, but is still worth mentioning – voiced was that the tripod broke a little too easily.
For the price (this one’s the cheapest of the four contenders here), the FEEMIC 20-60×60 Upgrade HD Spotting Scope is a fine product. One might argue that it works better than similar scopes at slightly higher prices.
All hunters have different needs, different price ranges – different everything. One thing many of them have in common, however, is a desire for the best spotting scopes for hunting. Said scopes need to have impressive features, durability, and versatility.
In my opinion, the Vortex Razor HD Spotting Scope is the best scoping scope for hunting. As an owner of this scoping scope, it’s worth every penny. It has the best clarity, build-quality, and overall support.
If you’re on an extreme budget, the SVBONY would be my second option. It’s one of the best spotting scopes for hunting but nowhere near the Vortex. It’s great for a person on a budget but great for the price. Hopefully, this guide helps you find what you’re looking for.
